Brac to Dubrovnik. Our trip down
the Dalmatian coast. Friday morning
dawned cold and rainy. After getting up
with the chickens (well sort of – see photo).
We said good bye to Valentino, walked past the small shrine that guards and
blesses the Tomic property and drove down the mountain for a brief stop at the
beach. (See Photos)
The stormy weather closed the closest ferry, so we drove
back to Stupetar for the ferry back to the mainland and a drive down the
Dalmatian coast. The closing of the
ferry added several hours to our travel time and Guy’s driving. But we got to walk around Split for a short while. There are two photos of a little white car that is about 100 years old. Look closely at the hood in the second photo..a most unique way to keep the motor safe.
We ooh and aaahhh! Our way down the coast, as the scenery is
exquisite and changes continually from gardens, to mountains, to
coastline. So rather than describe it,
this blog entry will be mainly self-explanatory photos of the countryside.
We got to the walled city of Old Dubrovnik and met Nevena,
the owner of the Abjanic apartments where we stayed in a 400 year old house for
three nights. The wall of one of the
bedrooms was part of the wall around the city.
Our apartment was up several narrow alleys (see photos) which is the
case for much of the housing in the city.
We arrived in time for a concert in the square and a warm
welcome from Nevena. All of us were delighted with our quarters
and looked forward to spending 3 nights in the same location.
This was a travel day, so photos are much better than words
to share our day.
i love seeing all of this through your lens.
